One of my proudest and momentous moments was scoring 100 runs for Laurelvale Cricket Club v Portadown our arch rivals in the Purdy Cup Final at Laurelvale. The headline & comment on the image speak for themselves. I enjoyed the moment needless to say espaecially against our oldest adversaries Portadown. I can recall the feeling even now and the joy and elation to emulate my Uncle Ossie who had previously knocked up a ton for the Vale and kindly donated his bat to me which was promptly sawn to fit my diminutive stature at that time. I duly gave my bat presented to me for the feat to my son David. Hopefully it will stir memories of that day.
Note in the first clip below my Uncle Ossie (Seated Left) sits proudly with Albert Taylor watching history repeat.
I nearly repeated the feat again with a 96 which would have been wonderful to have scored 2 centuries for the Vale. I also managed an 81 v RUC on a wild windy night at New Forge.
